Samuel is a partner at TKL Abogados – Think Legal.
His practice is focused on litigation and arbitration, with vast experience advising his clients in contentious matters and complex negotiations.
He began his career at Uría Menéndez in 2005, where he worked as lawyer in the Commercial Law and Intellectual Property Departments until 2007. After a few months cooperating with Professor Rodrigo Uría’s Foundation in pro-bono projects in Latin America, Samuel joined the Litigation and Regulatory Department of DLA Piper in 2008, where he worked until 2016.
Samuel has also worked as in-house counsel at Intereconomía Corporación, and has been seconded to the legal departments of the multinational companies The Walt Disney Company and UPS –EMEA headquarters in Brussels, where he coordinated legal work in three different jurisdictions (Italy, Portugal and Spain).
He has ample experience in contractual and corporate matters, along with bankruptcy proceedings, aviation, tort and personal damages, directors’ liability, construction and energy, among others. He has also advised in antitrust matters, especially in those related to sanctioning proceedings due to anti-competitive practices.
His activity as a litigator has been developed in the framework of domestic proceedings before the Spanish Courts, as well as in international arbitrations before the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Paris, domestic arbitrations before the Chamber of Commerce of Madrid, and ad hoc arbitrations. Furthermore, he has intervened in various bankruptcy proceedings and has advised the trustees of some of the most significant bankruptcy proceedings in Spain over the past years.
Samuel holds a Law Degree by the University of Granada. He additionally holds an LLM Degree by IE Business School (2005) – with Honours.
He frequently collaborates with Fundación para la Investigación del Derecho y la Empresa (FIDE – www.fidefundación.es) -a think-tank dedicated to the analysis of relevant legal business and economic issues-, where he has acted as speaker in relation to various subjects.
Besides, he has also been a professor of Commercial Law in the Law Degree at IE University, as well as in the LLM Programs at IE Business School and Universidad San Pablo CEU. Moreover, Samuel has taken part in pro-bono teaching programs in Dar Es Salam (Tanzania) in collaboration with the Dar Es Salam University Law School.
