Juanma is a partner at TKL Abogados – Think Legal.
His professional activity is focused on commercial, corporate and administrative law, being specialised in the telecommunications, audiovisual and new technologies sectors.
He began his career as a lawyer in 1988 at Gómez-Acebo & Pombo, working in the Commercial Law Department until 1998. During that period, he participated in corporate transactions and acted as Secretary of the Board for several clients. Likewise, he provided advice on regulatory, commercial and contractual matters to companies of different sectors, including regulated sectors such as the telecommunications or insurance sectors.
In 1998 he joined the business world by taking part in the management team of the telecommunications operator R as Secretary-General and Secretary of the Board of Directors. From that position he run all the legal and regulatory matters and participated in the strategic and business decisions.
In 2015, when the operator R joined Grupo Euskaltel, he assumed the direction of the Legal Department and Regulation of the Group until 2018.
During his business adventure he has represented both Euskaltel and R in the management bodies of their participated companies, as well as in different foundations, associations and economic interest groups.
The business activity has provided him with a global view of businesses, after having intervened in all kind of contractual, regulatory and legal proceedings, such as financing agreements, infrastructure and network construction agreements, and agreements for the acquisition of broadcasting rights. He has also led the management of conflicts over competition and concentration, the dialogue with regulatory bodies and the implementation of privacy and regulatory compliance programmes.
Juanma holds a law degree. He also holds a Diploma in Registration and Mortgage Law from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (1992) and a Management Development Programme from IESE Business School (2003).
He has collaborated with training centres and business schools in postgraduate programmes (Universidade da Coruña, IFFE Business School) and he is a regular speaker at conferences on regulatory compliance, telecommunications and e-commerce.
